The Mantra "Err on the Side of Caution"

Even in small town America, Big Brother is watching Facebook!  "Err on the Side of Caution" will prove to be invasive and controlling beyond anything we can imagine!  This article is two months old, and I'm running it now because this was done before the new policy at Facebook and Net Neutrality.  Some will find it precautionary and reassuring, while others will find it an overreaction of public policy.  Either way, intrusive protection is here . . . to stay, and this is certainly evidence that it arrived before Facebook's new terms of service or the latest decision by the FCC.

Online Posting Leads to Increased Security at North Middle School

A Joplin middle school student was detained and questioned by police after a Facebook post this morning (12/19/14) that involved guns. A Joplin Schools spokesperson tells News Talk KZRG the student, who attends North Middle School, had made a post online that led administrators and the Joplin Police Department to increase security at the school, but a police spokesman says the post was caused by an argument between two students on facebook, and adds that students were never in danger. Read the School District's statement below:
"Prior to the start of school, it was brought to the attention of administrators at North Middle School that a student had posted images of weapons on Facebook. Administrators reviewed the posting. As a precaution, the student was detained for questioning. There was also extra police presence at the school in the morning. There was no immediate danger or threat to students, and classes continued as normal. At Joplin Schools, the safety of our students and staff is our priority, and in cases such as this, we err on the side of caution."
